Wrought Iris Mittens

The motif for these mittens was inspired by an image of a stylized Iris that has been reworked; intertwined with a memory of a wrought iron fence with the sunset glowing behind it. The result is a fun and elaborate-looking pair of stranded-knit mittens, the Wrought Iris Mittens glowing with the remembered light. Worked cuff up in the round using stranded colourwork, with a gusset worked in the palm that is set aside on waste yarn to be worked later for the thumb.

Finished Size: Women’s medium/large or Men’s small/medium 20 cm 8” palm circumference; 25.5 cm 10” total length.

Hank’s Pullover

Hank's Pullover is a cozy pullover that is at once relaxed enough for weekend wear and with enough panache for the casual office. The allover garter rib stitch and simple construction make this garment a satisfyingly quick knit. The pullover is polished off with a welted shawl collar that resembles piping and gives the pullover a stylish finish. The subtle texture partners well with the beautifully heathered, soft, woolen-spun yarn.

Finished Size 38 (42, 46, 49.5, 53)“ chest circumference. Pullover shown measures 42”; modeled with 3” of positive ease.

                                                                                                  Chesterfield Slippers

Whether you call it a couch, sofa, or Chesterfield, these sock-like slippers remind me of the plaid one in the living room from when I was a child, and are just as cozy as a day spent reading there! Worked cuff down in the round, and separated to work a heel flap, the stitches on the side of the flap are picked up to form a gusset. The toe is shaped with a wide border of Reverse Stocking stitch until only the border remains, then the remaining stitches are grafted in pattern.

Foot circumference of finished sock, blocked: 17 (19.5, 21, 23.5, 25)cm 6.75 (7.75, 8.25, 9.25, 9.75)“. Cuff/Leg Length: 5 (6.5, 7.5, 9, 9.5)cm 2 (2.5, 3, 3.5, 3.75)“. Intended to be worn as slippers with a slightly more relaxed fit than standard on socks. Shown in size M.

Yarn Chase Hat

An intarsia cat on a wooly warm hat will bring a smile to the face of everyone who sees it. An adorable puff stitch creates a ball of yarn with which the kitty plays, and a pompom completes a whimsical knit you’ll wear proudly, this season.

Mount Robson Pullover

The Mount Robson Pullover, named for the mountain in the Canadian Rockies, is a lightweight pullover worked in a slip-stitch rib, dense-yet-drapey, with considerable stretch. Contrasting texture is provided by the stockinette saddle-shoulders. Firth Waves Cushion

The Firth Waves Cushion is knit in the round, forming a tube that is then seamed closed at bottom and top edges over a pillow form. The word "firth" is Scots for an inlet or bay, and having enjoyed the beautiful Firth of Forth on a trip to Edinburgh, that seemed like the right choice for this cozy, wavy cushion.

Nor Good Red Herring
Nor Good Red Herring was inspired by a herringbone pattern from a Dutch fishing gansey, but has here been transposed onto a circular yoke more in keeping with an Icelandic-style sweater, and worked in a luxurious English-spun merino yarn—making it neither fish, nor fowl, nor good red herring. The herringbone pattern runs around the yoke, up the sides and mirrored on the sleeves. Knit seamlessly from the bottom up with sleeves and body knit separately to the underarms and joined to finish with underarms being grafted.
